What is BWE Time Laps?
BWE Time Laps is a 24-hour relay-style event started by the Bone Family and held in the Beverly Woods East community, located in the South Park area of Charlotte. The event begins on Friday, June 3 at 6:00 PM and ends on Saturday, June 4 at 6:00 PM. Participants will bike/run/walk during 1-hour segments, and miles will be tracked. Monetary donations are taken directly through the Camp LUCK website.

How BWE Time Laps Began
In 2020, the Bone family’s favorite annual 24-hour run at the Whitewater Center was canceled due to the pandemic. They decided that wouldn’t stop them––they figured they could do a similar event safely with their neighborhood. They encouraged their community to come together to run, have some fun, and raise money and awareness for a good cause.
The first Time Laps event was a huge success. Participants ran all night and went into the next day. 24 hours later, they had achieved 300+ miles and raised over $5,000 for a local charity.
So they did it again in 2021 around the “Bike LUCK” theme. With help from our neighbors, we hit the streets for 1-hour segments for 24 hours consecutively. They biked over 600 miles, raised $7,800, and all the donations went to Camp LUCK. The donations equate to sending six campers to Camp LUCK––a huge win!
“Through Camp LUCK, our family has extended,” Shannon Bone says. “We have met wonderful, compassionate people who have provided support, education, and awareness around heart defects. Being a part of this community and seeing families evolve from CHD defining them to embracing their family’s potential is liberating. By having our Camp LUCK network, we know we are not alone in our CHD journey, and we can navigate the CHD path together.”
BWE Time Laps 2022: What to Expect
In a few days, the Bone family is hosting BWE Time Laps! They have rallied the community for their BWE Time Laps event. Will we beat our mileage? Will we raise more money for Camp LUCK? Who knows––but we would LOVE to have your support as they pursue their goals.
Their website has all the details and will continue to be the “hub” for new information. There will be food trucks, beer, and bands playing. ALL are welcome to participate.
