Bike LUCK Presented by the Charlotte Knights
April 17-25, 2021
Bike LUCK Presented by the Charlotte Knights is the annual charity bicycle ride for Camp LUCK.
Thank you so much for helping us to continue camp and other programs free of charge for our heart families and kids.
This year’s Bike LUCK event is virtual and registration is free of charge. There are three ways to participate:
- Register for the event and fundraise for Camp LUCK – we’ll provide the tools to make fundraising fun and successful.
- Register for the event and make a donation
- Make a donation
To make this year’s event fun, interesting and challenging, the event will offer a number of challenges which will occur throughout the entire registration period as well as during the event. You will be challenged to fundraise, expand your fundraising teams and have fun!
Among the challenges, we will offer the following prizes if you reach these fundraising goals – but you have to register for this free event to be eligible for these prizes!
$50 – Scars Are Cool – Bike LUCK cycling socks
Your $50 donation will cover the cost of CPR Certification for camp staff
$100 – Warrior – Premium cycling water bottle
Your $100 donation will cover the cost of medical supplies for one day of camp
$250 – Hero – Camp LUCK hoodie
Your $250 donation will cover the cost of a camp experience for our Baby LUCK families for one day
$500 – Friend – Cotopaxi backpack
Your $500 donation will cover the cost of our weekend family camp for one family
The prizes for the fundraising challenges are individual-based, and so prizes will only be awarded to the registered participant based on the amount of donations made to that participant’s personal fundraising page. You must register for the event and set up a personal fundraising page in order to be eligible to participate in the challenges.
You have complete flexibility in how you structure your fundraising drive. Individual winners who reach the above fundraising goals will be determined by the total amount of donations collected as of Sunday, April 25th at 11:59 pm.
This year’s Bike LUCK is completely unsupported. Even if you select the “Ride the Route” option, the route will not be marked and there will be no SAG (i.e. support and gear) vehicles to assist you. The ride is at your own risk, so you will need to take appropriate precautions for your safety.
Why Should I Ride
Looking for an opportunity to ride your bike and support a great cause? If so, Bike LUCK is for you!
This year, our ride is virtual and structured so that you can pick your OWN experience. Ride one of our legendary Bike LUCK routes, choose your own route, or even join a spin class. Follow our leaderboard and earn a badge for your effort or follow the competition as you and other participants compete in our very first fundraising challenge. Create a team or work alone to raise money and earn prizes and recognition. Fundraising is optional, and there is no minimum requirement. You do you and join us for a little fun competition. Whatever you chose, you know your ride and fundraising efforts are supporting a great cause.
About Camp LUCK
Bike LUCK raises money for Camp LUCK, which is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that operates a weeklong medically supervised sleep-away camp for children with congenital heart disease (“heart kids”) and their siblings (the “kids camp”). Unlike the vast majority of camps, Camp LUCK is free of charge! All donations are tax-deductible.
The “LUCK” in Camp LUCK’s name stands for Lucky Unlimited Cardiac Kids because, at kids camp, we want our “heart kids” to be “normal kids” for a week and to participate in awesome activities that they might not normally be able to – like canoeing, lake swimming, archery, zip-lining, and challenging themselves on adventure courses.
In addition to operating the kids camp, Camp LUCK also operates a three-day “family camp” for heart kids and their families and offers a year-round support group for families with heart kids that are too young to attend kids camp.
Like kids camp, all of Camp LUCK’s programs are free of charge. Being able to offer camp and our other programs free of charge is essential to our mission because even with health insurance, treatment for congenital heart disease is really expensive and many families with heart kids would not be able to send their kids to camp or participate in our programs if they had to pay. So by participating in Bike LUCK, including the fundraising challenge, you are directly helping these heart kids and their families.
